Old news but good news

This probably sounds like very old news but it’s still new to me since I only discovered it yesterday. Apparently, one of the photos that I took for Samuel & Beverly’s wedding back in 2007 won 16th place for Q4 2007 in the Toasting category of WPJA’s quarterly wedding photo competition.

New products for 2009

A new year marks a new beginning. We keep things that have been outstanding, improve things that could have been done better and discard things that were obviously not working. We have been using the Brillance Chromata Canvas for the longest time and we must say that it has been nothing short of excellent so far. This year, we will be offering Hahnemuhle’s very own fine art canvas The Daguerre (pronounced Da Gay-rr), named after French artist Louis-Jacques-Mandé Daguerre who invented a very unique photography processing technique known as daguerretype. Instant Print

We introduced this service since last quarter of 2008. But we thought we should mention this again as we foresee this service getting more and more popular as wedding couples are looking for more ways to inject more fun to their weddings. Laptop skins

We did a soft launch for this product sometime in November 2008 but we thought we’ll mention it again as we might have another offerring aside from laptop skins – PSP & iPhone skins. With a small minimum order quantity of just 20, it’s easy to see why we think this would be a popular wedding favour. After all, almost every other person that we know has either a PSP, iphone or a laptop.

When Night Falls

When Night Fall is a short film directed by Derrick Lui. I met Derrick by chance and was asked if I would be keen to be a set photographer for his upcoming short film. As fate would have it, I had no assignments on the weekend that he was filming so I decided to see for myself how a movie production was like in real life. The first hand experience and being part of a film crew was truly worthwhile to say the least. Suffice to say, I will be now making my debut short film which is expected to be filming in mid July next year.

This is my first time working with Luvin from Pictures N Pixels trying out the multi-photographer, multi-perspective approach and completely shot in the film medium. I’ve tried this previously with another photographer with a mix of digital and film approach but somehow it didn’t turn out what I had envisioned it to be due to the inherent difference between the digital look and the film look. This time round, it turned out much better, definitely much closer to what I had in mind since eveything was shot in film. I’ve always wanted to give my couples a multi-perspective approach to wedding photography and having 2 photographers with clearly defined roles does make things a lot easier. This is also the first time that I’m trying out the Instant Print service with Pictures N Pixels and I’m pleased to say that I’ll be making this service available to all my wedding couples. As you can see, many firsts in this wedding and many thanks to Mark and Hui Yi for letting me use their wedding as the first showcase.
